If you think protein shakes are a chalky and tasteless breakfast, then this peach and cream smoothie will change your mind! It tastes more like dessert than breakfast, and is complemented by sweet and juicy peaches, creamy coconut and spicy cinnamon. We like to keep frozen cauliflower rice on hand to add a certain amount of nutrition and fiber to the smoothie. With the help of our Daily Shake, this meal will keep you full for hours.
Stone fruits keep you cute
Peaches are considered to be stone fruits or drupe, and belong to the same genus as apricots, plums and cherries. They are rich in fiber, vitamin C, potassium and vitamin A. Peaches are an excellent source of antioxidants and help fight free radicals in the body. The benefits of peaches for heart health have been studied, especially lowering cholesterol and improving blood pressure. Studies have also shown that the compounds found in peaches can help the skin retain moisture and improve skin texture, tone and appearance. It has also been shown to potentially prevent UV damage and slow the growth of skin tumors.
We like to use broccoli to make soups, stir-fries and smoothies. It has added fiber, potassium, calcium, folic acid and vitamin C. It doesn't add much flavor, so your smoothie tastes like peaches, not vegetables! Due to its choline content, broccoli can help improve mood and memory. It is also an important mineral for brain development and nervous system health.
Fat is essential
Coconut yogurt and coconut cream add essential fats to this smoothie. Fat contributes to satiety (let our body know that we are full and satisfied), helps keep blood sugar stable, and helps our body absorb certain vitamins and minerals. The fat in coconut helps the body burn fat, raise high-density lipoprotein (good) cholesterol, and is easier to obtain as energy than other types of fat. The reason is that although most dietary fats are classified as long-chain triglycerides, some of the fat in coconut contains medium-chain triglycerides. This type of fat enters your liver directly, where it can be converted into ketones for fast energy.
- 1 cup fresh or frozen peaches
- 1 cup ice
- 1 serving Vanilla Daily Shake or 1 packet of Vanilla Cleanse Shake
- 1 cup frozen cauliflower rice
- 1/2 cup coconut yogurt
- 1/4 cup coconut cream (full-fat, canned coconut)
- 1 1/2 cup coconut or other nut milk
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
- Optional: 1-2 dates for added sweetness
Prep all ingredients, add to a high-speed blender.
Blend on high until creamy and smooth. Serve peaches and cream smoothie right away.
